To do for today: [Mar. 12th, 2010|05:53 am]
1) Start a new offer on a new house (we can't close by EOM without starting the process *now*)
2) start a new loan application (ditto)
3) try to get my laptop back from Fed Ex ("Any other company would have put your laptop in your rental office, where you knew it was safe and secure, rather than leaving it in our warehouse! But we're *not* any other company!"
4) try to get my job done - I'm reserving the right to leave early due to illness.
5) Wait to find out if the bank tries to pull *another* requirement out of its ass thin air to try to kill the current deal

Oh, man, I was wondering about the laptop. Jeezus.

Yeah, I can feel a sudden illness coming on from here...

My sympathies as you go through all these endless hoops. Here in Nova Scotia the bank lays out everything in advance (what you can spend, what you have to do and when, inspections, etc., estoppel certificate, title search, et complex cetera), and both seller and buyer have to do everything through attorneys -- in fact, the two principals needn't even meet (I only met the woman selling my place by sheer chance).

I expect it may be more expensive, but I found the whole thing relatively painless because of all the hand-holding by my bank branch manager, the agent, and the lawyer.
